THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family law. She concentrates the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate and estate administration in addition to commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid court processes and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a significant role in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond the legal realm and she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce, custody, child support and guardianships, as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
