Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates the majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to stay clear of court processes and litigation.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond her legal practice and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce child support, custody, and guardianships - as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
